Asheville Botanical Garden Proposal

The Asheville Botanical Gardens is a beautiful location for a proposal or engagement session. Mark chose this spot to propose to Rachel, which was stunning, even in the winter. After a proposal, I typically conduct a short session, about 45 minutes long, allowing you time to savor the moment while capturing adorable photos of the two of you and your ring.

The Botanical Gardens are open year-round from sunrise to sunset, with no cost to visit. Located next to the University of North Carolina Asheville, the gardens provide a lovely backdrop for photos, especially in the spring and fall. Spanning 10 acres, most of the trails are gravel, so it’s a good idea to wear appropriate shoes. Reed Creek runs through the gardens, offering a perfect spot for photos along the water, as shown below.

If you’re trying to pick the best time to visit, peak bloom season is from mid-April to mid-August, though this can vary depending on weather conditions. Visiting in the fall, from October to mid-November, offers a chance to capture the beautiful autumn colors. If the weather cooperates, you could enjoy a picnic during your spring or fall visit.

When planning a proposal here, you have two options for having it photographed. You can either tell your partner that you’ve booked a session and during the session, I will pose you in a way that allows you to get down on one knee while your partner is looking away. Alternatively, I can hide and follow you discreetly so your partner isn’t suspicious about why a photo shoot was booked. If you choose the latter, we’ll need to coordinate the location, time, and exact moment you plan to propose. Fortunately, the Botanical Gardens offer plenty of spots for me to remain out of sight. I can also use a map of the Gardens to show you the best places to propose and where I’ll be stationed.

If you're interested in exploring another location during the session, the Asheville Botanical Gardens is just six minutes from downtown Asheville, where you can take additional photos. Another nearby option is the Blue Ridge Parkway, located 15 minutes away, where we took some pictures during this session. Also, a reminder that the Blue Ridge Parkway is seasonal, and in winter, you can only go as far as the French Broad Overlook.
